to add to the sentiment of that post i reblogged yesterday, it’s obvious that so many people see retail workers as subhuman because they think bare minimum standards of decency qualify as being “nice” or “kind” to retail workers.
not yelling at or berating retail workers doesn’t count as “being nice”. that’s the default. that’s how you should be behaving without even thinking about it.
i do not know a SINGLE person, not even out of my friends, not even out of the most woke people on this damn site, that only likes unproblematic things. every single one of us likes something that’s fucking garbage. so some of y’all can climb down off your high horses and stop competing for the “least problematic” award honest to god.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend is so refreshing bc it’s a feminist tv show but not centered around a “strong female protagonist who can do anything and takes no shit”. Instead it’s about the hold the patriarchary has on women from such a young age that we have no way of separating our own desires for happiness from ones the patriarchary has instilled in us. It’s an unflinching female gaze that makes zero attempt to pander to any kind of male audience .
